The Recovery of Bioactive Compounds from Olive Pomace Using Green Extraction Processes

In this study, solid olive mill waste (SOMW) was used to obtain antioxidant compounds using solid–liquid extraction. The effect of different extraction methods, namely microwave-assisted (MAE), ultrasound-assisted (UAE), Soxhlet, and conventional solvent extraction, on the yield, total phenolics, activity SOMW extracts investigated. Untreated dried were subjected with water methanol. evaluated DPPH assay, while their phenolic content measured Folin–Ciocalteu method. For characterisation extracts, HPLC-DAD analysis performed. results showed that yield significantly influenced (p < 0.05) by used, material treatment prior moisture samples, time. optimised parameters water, as solvent, MAE technique (extraction temperature 50 °C time 1 h). evaluation indicated phenolics dominant bioactive compounds. found be rich in several hydroxytyrosol derivatives. Therefore, can a valuable resource for innovative techniques.
